1825-day-old

My little boy, he’s gone and grown up on me. He turned from tiny crying baby, to funny quirky toddler, now to smart adorable precocious five year old.

I’m not going to do a “list of” this year, there is just too much emotion and I’m not prepared to open the floodgates.

Instead, here’s a rundown of his special day:

Since he doesn’t have school on Wednesdays in February (teachers doing assessments with students) we had the day together, just him and I.

We went to the park for a playdate with a lot of the preppies (kindergarteners) and shared yummy cupcakes. We then went straight to the toy store to buy presents with the money from Grammy & Gramps. When Jake walked into the shop, he let out a loud “whoa! awesome!” and ran straight for the Lego, naturally. I thought his head was going to pop off he was so excited. He chose 4 items and even something for his brother, so thoughtful. We then continued on to the Arcade where we played Skee ball, Air Hockey, Nascar racing, some shooting game and chose the obligatory crappy plastic toy for a gazillion tickets.

We continued the fun and had a nice lunch together. On the way home he fell asleep in the car, something he NEVER does unless it’s a long car ride.

Turning 5 is tiring

We let Jake choose whatever he wanted for dinner, either homemade or out to a restaurant. After much debate and circumstances (rush hour traffic prevented us from going to his first choice) we ended up at Macca’s (McDonald’s) much to my dismay, but it’s what the birthday boy wanted! After that we went to a local ice cream shop for Birthday ice cream and then home for more present opening.

All in all, he had a great day! Happy 5th birthday to my baby who’s not a baby anymore!

Present from my brother, awesome!

  1. sounds like a perfect day to me 🙂

  2. I am in denial. Your baby can’t be 5 already. It’s just not possible. 🙂

  3. So glad he had a great day!
