We had a great weekend in Tootgarook: the beaches were amazing and the boys really loved it. The bayside beach was calm and shallow, perfect for the kids to plop themselves down in a little pool and splash around. The oceanside beach was probably the most perfect beach I have ever been to in my life: huge waves colored the greenest green and bluest blue. We watched the surfers ride the waves and walked along the shoreline to climb rock formations that looked like they belonged on Mars. I have never seen Jake so happy in his life: he is truly a beach bum. It was nice to get away, even if it was only for 2 days.

Now we are back and are gearing up for the next 2 weeks of holiday celebrations. I look forward to making new traditions, and just enjoying being together.

Funny:  We saw Santa at the Market last week & he was handing out “lollies”, now Jake associates Santa Claus with lollipops: I put some in his stocking.

Observation: Aussie’s don’t deck their houses in colorful lights, blow-up snowmen or reindeer landing on their roof’s. You just don’t see ANY outside decorations. And this, along with the 90 degree weather, is why it is so hard to believe that Christmas is only 3 days away.

Happy Hanukkah to everyone!

  1. We definitely deck our homes out with Christmas lights in Sydney! Maybe just a Melbourne thing? 🙂 (I know, late comment, but just discovered your blog through Bodies in Motivation.)
