About

Documenting my adventure, moving from the United States to Melbourne Australia with my husband partner,our 4 and 2 year old sons, and our 2 kitties, who I will forever refer to as “Ex-pat cats.” An account of the differences in culture, language, food, and just day-to-day life.

  • Hey, I saw you on Suz in Oz’s comments. I’m in Sydney with 3 & 4 year old boys.. I’m going to read your blog.. right…now.

  • I’m so with you!!! We got a package from home today and it had a bag of Cheerios. I too was so excited about it! My kids were loving the pop tarts. I moved to Melbourne in November with my husband and three kids.

  • Welcome to Melbourne! I just started reading this blog tonight but it’s great. I’m a Melburnian so if you ever have any questions I would be happy to help you. Just leave a question on any random artical you like if you have any. Bye!

  • Hi Dani,
I found your blog on a link to expats and thought I would write a note. I’m also an American in Melbourne. I’m here with my husband (aka partner) and 8 month old daughter. We’ve been here just under two years and plan to be here for AT LEAST another year. We have a blog as well – address http://www.eandedownunder.blogspot.com.
Maybe we should meet up for a cuppa???

  • Hello,

Enjoyed reading your blogs starting many months ago. I check in for updates every now and then. We live in Las Vegas but are planning to move to Australia. From our reading we think we will like Melbourne best and end up settling there. My oldest two kids (not kids anymore really) are ages 18 (daughter) and 20 (son) and are interested in many opportunities they have found in Australia. My youngest (daughter) is almost 13. My husband works at home and can work anywhere there is internet. I have one question for you. Do I remember correctly that you had some “must have” boxes shipped right away when you moved there? And then you shipped more boxes later with a slower service? What shipping company did you use to ship those quicker “must have” boxes. We are starting to pack now and going through everything. We have been planning this for two years so am getting excited that we are getting closer to this happening.

    Thank you,
    Brenda

  • Hi.
My name is Mourad. I’m french.
I’ve created a brand new website for expats. There is a section where users can post their blog address.
For the moment it’s only for people that live (have lived) in Australia, Canada, France and USA.
I’ve looked on google to find expat blogs and that’s how i’ve found yours.

I thought that maybe you would be interested in submitting your link. Of course it’s totally free. You can create a free account in 30 seconds although it’s not mandatoray to create an account to submit your link but recommanded if you want to update your information when you want.

I hope to see your blog listed on my website soon.

    Best regards

Mourad (moving to Australia in one month)
